CCC EAP Statewide Convening on the New Common Core State Standards, the Latest EAP Research Outcomes, & High School-College Partnership Strategies (May 7-8, 2012 )

The Chancellor’s Office for California Community Colleges, with generous support from the Walter S. Johnson Foundation, is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for you to attend a free statewide convening of EAP partnerships to learn about changes in the K-12 standards and assessments, the latest California State University and California Community College EAP research outcomes, and effective practices in high school-college curriculum alignment, academic interventions, and partnership building.

Workshop Topics Include:

  • The new K-12 Common Core State Standards and Implications for Higher Education
  • The new CCSS Smarter Balanced Assessments for K-12 planned for implementation in 2014-15 and the transition of the EAP to the new 11th grade college readiness assessment
  • The latest research outcomes from Dr. Michal Kurlaender’s CSU and CCC EAP System-wide Studies
  • 12th grade math curriculum models from CSU and community college EAP partnerships
  • Effective practices and lessons learned about 11th and 12th grade academic interventions piloted through community college partnerships in recent years
  • Effective local partnership building strategies—what works and lessons learned

Targeted Audience:
All College-HS EAP Partnerships and key stakeholders (CCC, CSU and high school administrators, faculty, and other interested parties), estimated 3-5 participants per partnership

Agenda

All travel costs will be reimbursed and attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Dr. David Conley’s recent book, College and Career Ready: Helping All Students Succeed Beyond High School. Pre-registration is required.

California Regional EAP College Readiness Workshops October 5, 2011 and October 6, 2011 

The Chancellor’s Office is pleased to announce a day-long training opportunity to promote best practices in the arena of secondary-postsecondary partnerships and strategies for increasing high school student readiness for college. In collaboration with Dr. David Conley’s Educational Policy Improvement Center (EPIC), and through funding provided by the Walter S. Johnson Foundation, the Chancellor’s Office is hosting the second in a series of free California Regional EAP College Readiness Workshops in the Los Angeles area on October 5, 2011 and in Sacramento on October 6, 2011.

To ensure that you find value in this free event, please consider the following:

  • Do you have a good understanding of EAP?
  • Is your campus engaged in the discussion of EAP implementation?
  • Are you interested in strengthening partnerships and exploring college readiness strategies with your local high schools and CSU EAP Coordinator?
  • Are your local partners available to attend this event with you?

Free 2-day workshops sponsored by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the CSU Chancellor's Office and Educational Testing Service (ETS, the STAR test administrator) to provide foundational training on the Early Assessment Program was held on June 20th and 21st (College of the Canyons) and June 27th and 28th (Los Rios District Office).
