MHS Allocations/Other Funding information

There are no allocations that support student mental health services. The availability and support for mental health services on community college campuses varies greatly, and are for the most part, are supported through health services fees, which is left to the discretion of each district per Education Code Section

Currently, the main source of funding for student mental health efforts at California community colleges is through the California Community Colleges Student Mental Health Program (CCC SMHP), via CalMHSA. These funds are intended to build capacity and infrastructure, and focus on mental health prevention and early intervention activities, not direct services, per funding requirements. The CCC SMHP was initially funded at $6.9 million, with additional funding support obtained in subsequent years for a total of $10.1.

California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA), is an organization of California counties working to improve mental health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
