The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office and the California Department of Education are pleased to present the 2016-17 Adult Education Block Grant report. In response to the requirements outlined in Assembly Bill 104 (Chapter 13, Stats. 2015) and Amended by Assembly Bill 1602 (Chapter 24, Stats. 2016), this report addresses the progress the two agencies have made to identify the current distribution of federal funds, identify the impacts of significant legislation and provide recommendations for next steps. The Adult Education Block Grant report also provides an overview of the distribution of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and the Carl D. Perkins Career Technical Education Act funds.

Colleges with nursing programs receive funding through general apportionment/FTES for nursing programs, admission criteria, issues regarding faculty, and statistics on student attrition and license exam passage rates, among other data. This report provides information on funding awarded through an application process to the community colleges for nursing programs in fiscal year 2014-15.

2016 Economic and Workforce Development Program Annual Report

The California Community Colleges, through the Economic and Workforce Development Program (EWD), continue to propel the California economy forward by providing students with skills to earn well-paying jobs. At the same time, EWD helps provide California companies with the talent they need to compete on a global scale. This report highlights our efforts in helping to build workforce development programs in the state and discusses California’s seven macroeconomic regions through the 10 important economic sectors or industries we have targeted for investment.

The Economic and Workforce Development Program makes strategic investments to improve the skills of California’s workforce. It brings together members of the business community and academia throughout the state to create job opportunities for Californians.

This report highlights our efforts in helping to build workforce development programs in the state which, for the purposes of directing program investments, are divided into seven macroeconomic regions. Furthermore, this report summarizes the work the program has done to stimulate career training and employment opportunities in 10 important economic sectors in California.

The recommendations in this report are designed to strengthen the foundation for a new adult education system in California.

2015 Career Technical Education Enhancement Fund Report
2015 Career Technical Education Enhancement Fund Report
March 2015

Senate Bill 852 established the Career Technical Education (CTE) Enhancement Fund, which allocated on a one-time basis $50 million in the 2014-15 budget year to expand, enhance, and improve upon CTE programs statewide. This funding was designed to help community college CTE programs purchase equipment, align and develop curriculum, and provide professional development training to better meet the employment needs of the regional economy in each of seven macro-economic regions.
