Data for Policy Makers

Below, you will find a variety of data sources of interest to policy makers.  Much of the data is collected in response to statutory requirements and both statewide and college/district level data are available.  A one-page summary of the differences between the Scorecard and the IEPI Portal is available.

If you do not find what you need here, be sure to look at Resources By Topic Area on the main research page

The Data Mart provides information about students, courses, student services, outcomes, faculty, and staff. The emphasis is to answer the questions of administrators, educators, parents, students, state leaders, and professional organizations

The Scorecard is a performance measurement system that tracks student success at all 113 community colleges. The data tell how well colleges are doing in remedial instruction, job training programs, retention of students and graduation and completion rates. Data can be reported by gender, age and ethnicity.

The Salary Surfer uses the aggregated earnings of graduates from a five year period to provide an estimate on the potential wages to be earned two years and five years after receiving a certificate or degree in certain disciplines. This tool also provides information on which colleges offer programs in those specific disciplines.

Institutional Effectiveness works with the Board of Governors, internally within the Chancellor's Office, and with colleges/districts to develop, monitor, and implement a framework of data analysis and standards that will support all community college districts and to cross-pollinate exemplary programs between districts/colleges. The portal serves as the monitoring mechanism for the IE effort.
